Our Programs

The First Tee program is a unique curriculum, using golf as a vehicle, teaching golf skills and life skills. The lessons and learning extend well beyond the golf course.

The First Tee program is committed to reaching youth who otherwise would not have an opportunity to participate in golf. The lessons build upon each other, enabling students to progress in golf and life skills.

The First Tee of Smyrna conducts three sessions each year: an after school program in May and August. The First Tee Summer Session is held during the months of June and July. There are five levels of accomplishment at The First Tee of Smyrna: PLAYer, Par, Birdie, Eagle and ACE (added in 2010). The PLAYer program focuses on the "WHAT" followed by the "HOW." The students will learn what to do on the golf course, then receive instruction on how to become a PLAYer. All new students will begin in the PLAYer Program, be tested through Skill and Knowledge Tests, to receive certification, before entering the next level. As the students progresses through each level of The First Tee Program, the Skill and Knowledge tests become more challenging. It is not uncommon for some students to require two seasons of learning at one level, before receiving certification and advancing to the next level.
